It’s been a hectic semester, but I feel the world is clearing up. Time to get back to me. After bad binging days, I said “Ira, are you happy when you eat like a monster?”
Ira says, “Nope. I hate myself even more.”
“Then why do it?”
“I don’t know.”
“Then don’t.”
“OK.”
Simple advice, but sometimes hard to follow. All I can do is take it one day at time. And remember: this is for me. Not anyone else.
So here’s today’s workout.
Les Mills RPM Spin Class Express where I went 13 miles in 35 minutes. Let me tell you: Spin classes are tough. They hurt. They make me into a puddle of sweat. I am no longer a body, but water, drippy, messy water. And because I haven’t gotten on a bike for months, this was even more excruciating. My thighs burned, my heart rate was maxing at 170. But guess what? I survived.
And then. Weight training.
Two circuits of machine weights, which included: pec flies, delt flies, ab crunches, back crunches, chest press, bicep curls, triceps pushdowns, lat pulls, back rows, shoulder press, hamstring curls, leg extensions, leg press. That’s 13 exercises. I did 20 reps each at a lighter weight. I’m not going for bulk. I’m going for lean. Today was an all-body workout.
Body Manifesto: Bad days will happen. Bad weeks. Bad months. Just keep your eyes forward through it all. Love yourself no matter what.
